Coming Up For Air explores the tension between seeking lightness and feeling weighed down by life’s relentless demands. In the months leading up to this show, I juggled illness, an unexpected move, family visits, and the daily grind of parenting—all while trying to paint. Instead of an escape, this work became an act of rebellion. Layered, raw, and unapologetic, each piece reflects the chaos, defiance, and fleeting moments of joy that come with carving out space for oneself. Painting is my resistance, a place where no one tells me how to be. These works are for women—for the quiet battles they fight, the energy they hold, and the wild roots they grow when there’s no air left to rise.
